Michelle Maccarone (she/her) is a NYC based writer, performer and theatre creator. She Lives in Harlem with her wife, and 2 pugs, Margot Martindale and Imogene Coca.

Her play, The Leopard and the Lynx won Best Production, Best Actor, and Best Actress at New York Theatre Festival’s Winterfest 2025. Her 10 minute play, Wannabe has been performed at the Curtain Up! Festival at Burlington County Footlighter’s Second Stage.

Michelle is also a director, having staged numerous productions for The Heights Players in Brooklyn, including Prelude to a Kiss, Blithe Spirit, and The Pillowman.

Her work can also be found on her podcast and blog, Vintage Old Biddy, a variety show with original radio plays, songs, and interviews.

Michelle serves on the board of Broadway Bods, New York City’s only fat positive theatre company. She also co-hosts The Flanacast: A Mike Flanagan Recap Podcast.

When not engrossed in theater making or creative endeavors, Michelle can be found co-organizing the New York City Pug Meetup.

THE LEOPARD AND THE LYNX

After an award winning run at New York Theatre Festival in 2025, The Leopard and the Lynx has been expanded from a one act play, to a full length show with an expanded cast. We will be doing an informal workshop and hope to present this new version at upcoming festivals. Stay tuned!

WORKS CURRENTLY IN PROCESS

Michelle is currently working on two new projects, a children’s musical for the Halloween Season for the Heights Players 71st season as well as a to be named project involving Eleanor Roosevelt and Amelia Earhart’s 1933 “spontaneous flight” to Baltimore during a state dinner.
